Common Problem

Moss on Roof

Moss thrives on Rogue Valley roofs through the wet months. It holds moisture against shingles and collects around the chimney base, where it can lift flashing and let water in. We remove it and check what it has been doing underneath.

Possible Causes

This problem can have several causes. We diagnose the actual issue before recommending any work.

Shaded or north-facing roof sections
Long wet winters
Tree debris holding moisture on the roof
Flashing that traps water at the chimney base

What We Check

During our evaluation, we inspect these areas to find the root cause.

Extent of moss growth
Flashing around the chimney
Shingle condition
Chimney base and saddle
Gutters and drainage

When to Act

These signs mean it's time to schedule an inspection or repair.

Moss lifting shingles or flashing
Water stains on ceilings near the chimney
Moss packed around the chimney base

Can Wait

These situations are less urgent, but still worth keeping an eye on.
